Close the shop when you are not shipping

Doshe Journal

A weekend away, a kiln week, a fair where you will not pack boxes — none of these are failures. They become failures when the shop stays open and the messages pile up like unpaid work.

Turn the shop off, or put the dates in the banner before you leave. Buyers can wait for a maker who told them the door was locked. They do not wait kindly for a maker who vanished after checkout.

On Doshe there is no warehouse covering for you. You are the warehouse. Closing is part of running it, not a confession that you are small.
